Angel Tree Program

This weekend we had so much fun! We saw on the local news last week that the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program was having a hard time getting support at the Lakeline Mall location here in Austin. They were talking about how some kids were only asking for a new toothbrush...it was just heart breaking. Olivia was watching TV with me when it came on, and I explained to her what the program was for. After some discussion, she asked if she and Reece could pick out some kids to buy Christmas gift for this year. So on Friday we went out to the mall and selected 2 kids. A girl age 5 named Natalia and a boy named Jose that is 8 months. We immediately had to go to Wal-Mart and get some gifts for them. You are asked to buy a new outfit and two of the toys on their wish list. Of course we had to "inspect" each to make sure they were kid approved. However, she did really well buying gifts for another kid. Here are some pics of Olivia picking out the "angels" from the tree at the mall. I hope this inspires some of you to find a similar way to give back to the community this Christmas season.
