Reece's 4 Month Dr Visit

We had Reece's 4 month apt. today at his pediatricians. I was so curious to see just how big he was since my home scale had him at almost 20lbs.... well, I was way off! He is only 14.11 lbs and is 24in. tall. This puts him in the 50% percentile on weight and 10%-20% on height...in other words, just right :o)

They said he's probably teething which is why he's having a hard time eating and sleeping at the moment. We guessed this was the issue. She said just keep the Tylenol going and maybe a teething tablet if needed. Also, she didn't have any suggestions on his MAJOR issue with the car seat. I told her how he started screaming the moment we strapped him in and she just said, "well, guess he doesn't like it". Um....yeah!! So, pretty much he's just going to have to get use to it because he can't turn the car seat around until he's 20lbs and one year old.

He also did get 4 more shots today. These always worry me because he has to get them subcutaneously (under the skin) instead of the muscle to prevent a bleed. The head nurse Kim always gives them, and she's great! So far so good, no bleeding when the pricks were and he doesn't even seem to be sore.

Other than that, he looks good! Here are a couple of pics of him I took yesterday.

Party Party Party!

Well, we all survived the birthday party this weekend. It went REALLY well! We had it at a local indoor soccer facility called Soccer Zone and we were all really impressed. They had several great activities for the kidos which were varied in ages, and they all had a blast. Even the parents got to participate in the action! Olivia also received so many great gifts! She just goes from one to the other non stop :o) My friend Alicia also gave her an incredible doll house that was hers when she was little. We are planning on shopping for furniture and dolls to go in it, however, for now her Little People are using it.

On Thursday night, we had dinner at Granzie and Grandad's for our family present exchange. Among the gifts, she received a HUGE jeep to drive around out there. It was SUCH a hit. Grandad even got on his lawn mower and she chased him around in the jeep.

PS - Thanks to everyone who helped out with Reece at the party :o) He didn't have too much fun, and it made it so much better for me to be able to enjoy the party which I couldn't have done with out you. Especially my mom and David's mom, Jan. It was REALLY appreciated!!

Birthday Girl

Well, my baby turns 4 today! I can't believe it. Seems like just yesterday we were in Nashville bringing her home from the hospital. People always said, "they grow so fast" which I thought was so cliche, but I now know it really is the truth.

We had a little present opening session this morning with gifts from David, Reece and I. Reece gave her some books (which I think were her favorite), and David and I gave her a guitar and a purple robe. She also received a Princess DVD from her twin cousins Kade and Ky which we HAD to watch before school this morning. We're going to my parents tonight for her birthday dinner and more presents. We also made special purple cupcakes for school today which she ate most of the batter for :o)

Here are some pics from this morning. As you can see, Reece was "chillin" while sister opened her gifts!

World Cup??

Well, we had our first soccer tots class on Friday and I'll just preface this by saying my child is no longer shy! I thought it was kind of scary for them. When you walked in the indoor facility, you open the door to the soccer field and the kids have to walk across the field alone to meet up with the teachers and other kids. Miss thing just waved a quick goodbye and walked right out there. They just kicked the ball around for awhile then did some drills. I must say, she's a natural :o) She liked everything except this little boy who was throwing AstroTurf chunks at her. She just ignored him...thank god! I tried to take some action shots, but the glass wall around the field kept messing up the focus. Here are a couple of pics of us on the field though.

We're now getting ready for her birthday this week. I can't believe she's going to be 4!! We're having the party at the same place she takes soccer since they have a play area and an inflatable jumping toy for this kids too. She's really excited too! I'll have more updated before the party this weekend!

Gone Fishin'

Sorry it's been a week since I added any updates. My computer has been acting weird and wouldn't let me add a new post for some reason. On Monday night I had a great dinner with some girl friends! We've decided to start meeting once a month for some estrogen infused chatting AND time away from the little ones :o) I'm really looking forward to these "therapy sessions"!!

This past weekend Daddy took Olivia fishing at Granzie's house (at Olivia's request). Since she's been practicing her casting, with her princess fishing pole, she's become quite the angler! Here are a few pics of the fish she caught. They had so much fun!

Also, Reece got an exersaucer this weekend which he loves. Although, I think he enjoys looking at sister more than the toys.

Reece's Story

Okay, so I've been debating on whether or not to post on Reece's story or not. However, after reading other blogs of families who have dealt with this it has inspired me to share it with you. For those who don't know, Reece was diagnosed with a sever form of type A Hemophilia. This means that he has less than 1% of the protein the body needs to form blood clots. There is no cure for it at this time, but it is treatable. Hemophilia is traditionally a genetically inherited disorder transferred from the mother. However, there is no known history of it in my family. They say that in about 30% of the cases it is a spontaneous gene mutation. We won't know until we have genetic testing done in a few months which form it is. If it is from me, there is a chance Olivia will be a carrier as well. Stay tuned for more on this once we've had the testing done.

I will say that when we initially found out, we were full of so many emotions. Fear is the first to come to mind, of the unknown mostly. We knew the basic definition of hemophilia, but nothing other than that. David went online for some research as soon as we found out ....big mistake. The stuff we read scared us to death. We decided to hold off on the research until we spoke to our Hematologist. After meeting with her we did feel a lot better. She reassured us that he will have a pretty normal life. He just won't be playing contact sports and he'll just have to be extra careful. So far it hasn't really been an issue for him, and probably won't, until he becomes mobile around 10 months old. I'm PRAYING he isn't quite as active as his sister. Most days she's practically hanging from the rafters :o) The toddler years are when the most injuries occur I think. They have so many bumps and bruises during that time which for most they aren't a big deal, but for him they will be. We've been told he will need a helmet until he's pretty sure footed. I'm still trying to accept that, but I know it will be fine. Other than this, we don't really know what to expect. We're hoping at our next appointment in a few weeks we'll get more information. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Tummy Time

Well, not too much to report today. Daddy's coming home tonight so we are all really excited about that. Olivia had her second day of school today and she still loves it. Reece and I hung out at the house today.... just the two of us. He had some good tummy time so I thought I would share some pics. I've also added a pic of Olivia at the same age....it's amazing how much they look alike.

First Day of School

Well, we had a great first day at school. This morning, despite my best efforts and preplanning, we still had to rush around to get everyone dresses and Reece his bottle to get to school on time. He of course decided that he didn't want to eat so he screamed the whole time we were at school. But, my big girl just gave me a kiss and marched right on in and sat down at her seat. She said she had a great time and that she really liked the teacher. She did say there were a couple of mean boys. When I asked if they were fighting she said, yes with her over a toy. I asked if they took it away from her and she looked right at me and said, no I got it :o) That's my girl!!!

Anywho...here are a couple of pics. The one in purple was from yesterday before we did "Meet the Teacher". Reagan, of course, had to be in the pictures.....Olivia insisted :o)

Great Weekend

Well, we had a really good Labor Day weekend. Gammy and Papa came to visit on Friday evening which was really nice. Olivia requested Rudy's BBQ for dinner which was yummy, as always. I also got my new camera in that day. It's a super nice Canon PowerShot that we were able to get thanks to American Express points :o) The owners manual looks like Greek to me so I'm sure it will take me awhile to get the hang of it, but I'm really excited.

Saturday we pretty much just relaxed around the house. Olivia did have a Tea Party in her room that we were all invited to. Even Reece and Reagan were served.

Sunday we went to Granzie and Grandad's for a fish fry. We had Dad's famous fried okra, potatoes and onions which we all ate until we were sick, as well as fried catfish and shrimp. Then Monday David and I were actually able go see a movie!! Granzie and Grandad watched the kidos while we went to see The Bourne Ultimatum which was GREAT!
Today was Olivia's "Meet the Teacher" day at school. She is so excited that two of her closest friends are in her class this year, Caroline and Ashley. Her teacher seems really sweet too. She has her official 1st day tomorrow and we are all really excited.
Daddy leaves town again this evening but will be home late Thur. Much better than the last few trips. Well, that's all for now. I'll have some new pics. of our first day tomorrow.
